Noah Berlow is an American film director, producer and editor whose work includes documentary films, television productions and projects addressing social issues. His credits include Kumpanía: Flamenco Los Angeles, The Guardians of Justice and I Stand Alone: The Sully Erna Story.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Originally from Palmerton, Pennsylvania, Noah Berlow attended Ithaca College in New York. He received Ithaca's Outstanding Young Alumni Award in 2014.[4][5]
Career
[edit]Documentary filmmaking
[edit]Berlow worked in the research and education department of the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation, editing interviews with Holocaust survivors for documentary and educational productions. His editing credits at the foundation include Recollections: Eyewitnesses Remember the Holocaust, an educational documentary associated with a 2007 BAFTA award.[4]
Berlow subsequently worked on productions for music and television, alongside documentaries addressing human rights and other social issues. Berlow produced and edited Our World: Dropping the Knife – Kurdistan, a documentary examining female genital mutilation in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The project involved Kurdish filmmakers and organizations including Hivos and Amnesty International.[4]
Berlow was a producer and editor on Kumpanía: Flamenco Los Angeles, a 2011 documentary directed by Katina Dunn. The film examines the "Flamenco" community in Los Angeles through performances and interviews with dancers, singers and musicians.[3]
Television and music documentaries
[edit]Berlow served as a lead editor on The Guardians of Justice, a superhero television series created by Adi Shankar that was released on Netflix in March 2022.[1]
He also produced, co-wrote and edited I Stand Alone: The Sully Erna Story, directed by Troy Smith. The documentary follows the life and career of Sully Erna, the lead singer of the American rock band Godsmack. Its initial theatrical screenings in 2024 included Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Madison.[2]
Social-impact films
[edit]Berlow has directed short documentaries concerning homelessness in Southern California, including Who We Are and Act As If. The films examine the work of the Illumination Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing services to people experiencing homelessness.[6]
Act As If received the People's Choice Award and joint second place in the Humanitarian category at the 2024 MY HERO International Film Festival.[6]
Later work
[edit]In February 2026, Berlow co-produced and edited Spacemen from Planet Judy, a feature-length, audio-only science-fiction production featuring Paula Abdul, Phil Hendrie and Hal Rudnick. The production premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on February 28, 2026.[5]
