NeonAnimations (stylized as NEONAnimations, also known as NeonAnimations SDN.BHD.) is a Malaysian independent animation studio based in Shah Alam, a city in the Selangor area in Malaysia. The studio was founded in 2024 by Wan Muhammad Firdaus, previously known for creating the first video My Cat's Acting Up. Neon is known for independently producing upcoming animated series on YouTube such as Ocean Nippon Expansion.

History

Background and formation (2024–2025)

NeonAnimations was founded by Wan Muhammad Firdaus, a Malaysian independent programmer, in 2024. He had gained interest in internets at an early age, and learned to programme. Because he spent most of his spare time with programming at home. Following his few years of working as a web developer, Firdaus created My Cat's Acting Up, He used the name "Neon Specifications" during the development as he started turning a profit, incorporated the company in 2025. Firdaus left the project in the same year and wished to reuse the name, so he renamed the company. Meanwhile, Firdaus had known as where he departed the company when he was barred from creating in his free time.

In May 2025, Firdaus began working on a video game of a game developed and released earlier that year. Firdaus reused assets and parts of the engine code from an earlier personal project and released the first alpha version of the game, followed by the first version. He reused the name "Neon Specifications" for this release, registering a sole proprietorship with this name in less than a month had generated enough revenue for Firdaus to take time off his day job, which he was able to quit entirely by June 2025. As all sales were processed through the website, he did not have to split income with third parties. The payment services provider PayPal temporarily disabled his account when it suspected fraud.

In September 2025, Firdaus travelled to Europe, where he took part in a programming exercise and met before being offered a job at the company. He turned down the offer and instead contacted a former colleague to ask for aid in establishing a business out of Neon Specifications. The pair incorporated NeonAnimations SDN.BHD. on 17 September. While Firdaus continued working on videos wishing to focus on development, Firdaus's employer as chief executive officer. Other significant early hires as its art director, as lead programmer.

Continued growth (2025–present)

In 2025, NeonAnimations reached 1K views six months thereafter. The continued success led Neon to start the development of a new version for devices. Being the longest-running videos, its high popularity has made videos of the framework with devices. This version was programmed another version. initially developed was outsourced which also used in studio's attempt trademark name resulted in a dispute which cited similarities between the name and that of the series due to many such in the past, Neon was planning from other studios. Its first version was made available in December 2025, was also published and released by Neon for YouTube after some time in early access.
