Draft:Neil Vogel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Comment: Concerns about notability are not resolved. The WP:BUSINESSINSIDER sources are not necessary reliable, the rest of the sources are passing mentions in sources about the company. PARAKANYAA (talk) 13:43, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO) but presently it is not clear that it does.
As other reviewers have noted, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’.
Additionally, the draft tends to read too much like a promotional CV or advertorial (see WP:PROMO and WP:EXCESSDETAIL), which Wikipedia is not.
Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid or being the subject, you must declare that on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please see WP:COI and/or WP:PAID). In instances of a conflict of interest, the review of the page needs to be handled with care, mindful of the higher bar set by pages produced in circumstances of such a conflict. Such pages typically may read too much like a promotional CV or advertorial (see WP:PROMO), which Wikipedia is not; and/or contain prose that is not of a standard appropriate for an encyclopaedia (also see WP:PEACOCK and WP:NPV).
Please familiarise yourself with these pages before amending the draft. If you feel you can meet these requirements, then please make the necessary amendments before resubmitting the page.
It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject.
It would also be helpful if you could please identify with specificity, exactly which criteria you believe the page meets (eg "I think the page now meets WP:ANYBIO criteria #3, because XXXXX").
Once you have implemented these suggestions, you may also wish to leave a note for me on my talk page, including the name of the draft page, and I would be happy to reassess. Again, please ‘’’post your responses on the draft's talk page’’’, not on my Talk page. Cabrils (talk) 02:39, 11 September 2026 (UTC)

Neil Vogel (Born April 1970) is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of People Incorporated.[1] He joined the company in 2013 and has grown what was then known as About.com into one of the largest publishers in the US, with brands including PEOPLE, Food + Wine, Travel & Leisure, Southern Living, InStyle and Entertainment Weekly.[2][3]

Early Life

[edit]

Vogel grew up in the Philadelphia area. He attended The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a B.S. in Finance in 1992.[4]

Career

[edit]

Vogel began his career in investment banking at Ladenburg Thalmann from 1993-1998.[5]

In 1998, Vogel was named Chief Corporate Development Officer at Alloy Media + Marketing, a digital content and marketing services company focused on the teen and youth market.[6] In 2004, Vogel co-founded and was CEO of Recognition Media, the creator and producer of award shows and media properties including the Webby Awards and the Telly Awards.[7]

Vogel joined About.com as CEO in 2013, following the company’s acquisition by Barry Diller’s IAC.[2] Vogel's overall plan for About focused on social, mobile, and user experience, with an emphasis on increasing the amount of time that users remain on the site, rather than attracting people in the first instance.[8] In his first year as CEO, the company relaunched its website and grew its team from 100 to 176 employees.[9]

On May 2, 2017, IAC announced the rebranding of About.com to Dotdash. "Dot" was a tribute to the About.com logo, and "Dash" signified forward motion.[10] The company refocused on vertical markets through its niche websites: The Balance (personal finance), Lifewire (tech), The Spruce (home and food), VeryWell (health), TripSavvy (travel), and ThoughtCo (education).[11] In the following years, Dotdash acquired several brands including Investopedia, Byrdie, Brides,[12] Liquor.com,[13] Simply Recipes, and Serious Eats.[14]

On October 6, 2021, Dotdash announced the acquisition of Meredith Corporation's magazine and other non-broadcast assets for $2.7 billion, forming a new entity called Dotdash Meredith.[15] Following the acquisition, Vogel focused on expanding the brands’ digital presence and the company ceased print operations for several of its titles, pivoting them to digital-only.[16] The company also expanded its events portfolio[17] and entered into several licensing agreements with companies including Meta[18] and OpenAI.[19]

The company rebranded as People Inc. in July 2025[20] Vogel explained that the company wanted a simpler name that was more reflective of its business and chose to name it to reflect both its flagship property and to symbolize that amid the growth of artificial intelligence, "People" was "a really good representation of our narrative and what we do in this world."[21]

On April 28, 2026, People Inc.’s parent company IAC announced that it would rebrand to People Incorporated, of which Vogel would become CEO.[22] Vogel continues to lead the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the People Inc. subsidiary while overseeing the People Incorporated business as well, which includes stakes in MGM Resorts International[23] and Turo.[22]

Vogel sits on the Board of Directors for The Philadelphia Inquirer[24] and Webby Media Group.[25]

Personal Life

[edit]

Vogel resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and two children.[26]
