Nebojša "Nash" Subotić is a Serbian-American businessman. He is the founder and chief executive officer of WestPac Wealth Partners, a wealth management and financial services firm headquartered in San Diego, California.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Subotić was born in Sarajevo, in the former Yugoslav republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.[1] At age 13, he fled the country with his family during the Bosnian War; the family resettled in Serbia.[2] He later moved to the United States on a basketball scholarship to Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, where he played NCAA Division II basketball for the Sea Warriors.[3][2] He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in international business in 2002 and a Master of Business Administration in finance in 2003, completing both degrees in five years while also learning English.[2]
Career
[edit]After graduating, Subotić worked for John Hancock Financial Services in Honolulu for about five years, moving into a leadership role.[4] In September 2007, at the start of the global financial crisis, he founded a wealth management practice that later became WestPac Wealth Partners, starting with three financial representatives under the name Wealth Strategy Partners.[1][5] Under his leadership, the firm expanded into a multi-state operation; by the mid-2020s it reported more than 375 professionals and over $5 billion in administered assets.[5][6]
In a 2024 interview with Forbes Serbia, Subotić discussed WestPac's growth and its recruitment of former professional basketball player Marko Jarić as a financial advisor.[7]
WestPac has received national workplace recognition during Subotić's tenure, including a first-place ranking in the small and medium workplace category of Fortune's Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance list.[8]
Public speaking and philanthropy
[edit]Subotić has spoken on entrepreneurship and leadership at university and industry events, including a 2025 "HPU Talks" presentation at his alma mater[2] and Hawaii Business Magazine's Money Matters Conference in Honolulu, where he pledged $10,000 to the Pasefika Student Advancement Program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.[1]
