The MASQUE (Multiplexed Application Substrate over QUIC Encryption) protocol is a set of IETF standards. It consists of CONNECT-UDP and CONNECT-IP. The protocol enables transport layer proxying.[1][2]
Protocol
[edit]The tunnel connection between a client and a MASQUE server is based on QUIC ensuring that all information relayed to the target server is protected by QUIC encryption. Further, it preserves the end-to-end security context between the client and the target server guaranteeing confidentiality, authentication and integrity between the endpoints.[3][4][5]
Applications
[edit]Apple's iCloud Private Relay and Cloudflare Warp are popular MASQUE proxies.[6][7]
