Draft:Marketing Architects

Thanks for flagging this, and sorry I hadn't disclosed properly. I work at Marketing Architects and was asked to put this draft together as part of my job, so this counts as paid editing. I've added the disclosure to my user page per WP:PAID.

I tried to stick to independent sources the whole way through (Star Tribune, Ad Age, MediaPost, Chain Store Age, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal) and keep the tone plain rather than promotional, especially given the article was deleted once already under A7/G11. Happy to walk through any of the sourcing, fix anything that still reads as puffed-up, or just move to proposing edits here on talk instead of touching the draft directly, whatever works best on your end.

Marketing Architects is an American advertising agency based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, specializing in television advertising, including connected TV and linear television campaigns. The agency was founded in 1997 by Chuck Hengel.[3][4]

History

[edit]

In 2011, the agency formed Zoomworks, a subsidiary focused on developing and launching consumer products. By 2015, Zoomworks had launched or had in development more than 20 products, including the HurryCane walking cane and the Stuffies line of plush toys.[4][5]

In September 2015, the agency sold HurryCane, its first Zoomworks product to be sold, to Drive Medical, a manufacturer of durable medical equipment. HurryCane had generated about $50 million in sales since its 2012 launch, and Marketing Architects continued to serve as the brand's advertising agency under the new owner.[4][6][7]

In January 2023, Chuck Hengel stepped down as chief executive after 25 years in the role and moved into the position of executive chairman. Angela Voss, previously the agency's chief client officer, succeeded him as CEO.[8][3]

Later that year, the agency introduced Annika Streaming, a platform for buying connected-TV and streaming advertising inventory, built on an earlier linear-television buying platform the agency had developed.[9]

Clients and campaigns

[edit]

Trade publications have reported on advertising campaigns the agency produced for clients including kitchen retailer Sur La Table, described as the retailer's first national television campaign,[10] and apparel retailer J.Jill.[11]

Awards

[edit]

A campaign the agency produced for the estate-planning company Trust & Will was awarded first place in the television category at MediaPost's Planning & Buying Awards in 2025.[12] The agency's in-house podcast, The Marketing Architects Podcast, received Distinction awards in the Business-to-Business and Business series categories and an Excellence award in the Professional Services series category at the 2026 Communicator Awards, an awards program operated by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts.[13]
