Marie Wadden (born 1955) is a Canadian broadcast journalist and author. She has worked with the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) in Quebec and Newfoundland.[1] She is also the author of Nitassinan: The Innu Struggle to Reclaim Their Homeland and Where the Pavement Ends: The Aboriginal Recovery Movement and the Urgent Need for Reconciliation.
Career

[edit]Wadden started working as a reporter and producer for CBC Television in St. John’s in 1977.[1][2] She has since left the organization.[3][4] Atlantic Kon Tiki, her 2014 radio documentary about Henri Beaudout's 1956 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in the raft L'Égaré II won silver at the 2014 New York Radio Awards.[5][6][7]
Books
[edit]Wadden is the author of the 1991 non-fiction book Nitassinan: The Innu Struggle to Reclaim Their Homeland, which won the Edna Staebler Award for Creative Non-fiction in 1992.[8][9] In 2006, she wrote Where the Pavement Ends: The Aboriginal Recovery Movement and the Urgent Need for Reconciliation which was nominated for the Writers' Trust of Canada’s Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing.[10][11] The research was funded by an Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy grant.[12][13]
