Maid Cafe Simulator is an upcoming simulation video game developed by the South Korean studio Accelix in collaboration with the VTuber talent agency SCON, and published by Accelix.[1] Announced in 2025, the game casts the player as a job-seeker who inherits a run-down maid café from their late father, and who must rebuild the business while cooking, serving customers, and building relationships with a cast of five maid characters, each voiced by a SCON VTuber performer.[1][2][3]
Gameplay
[edit]Maid Cafe Simulator is played from a first-person perspective. The player runs the day-to-day operations of a café, including preparing food and drinks, serving customers in real time, and managing the café's layout and equipment as the business grows.[1] Outside of business hours, the player can interact with the café's five maid characters to build relationships with them, unlocking character-specific story events as their bond deepens.[1] The five maid characters are designed around kemonomimi (animal-eared) archetypes—including a dog, a white tiger, an arctic fox, a goat, and a raccoon—each with distinct personalities and traits that affect gameplay.[1] Progression is centered on earning an in-universe "Maidchelin" three-star rating for the café.[1]
Development
[edit]Maid Cafe Simulator is developed by Accelix in collaboration with SCON, a South Korean VTuber talent agency; five VTubers from the agency are represented in the game as fully voiced, playable maid characters, each with their own story routes.[2][3] Multiple outlets, including Mogura VR, Game*Spark, and Gamer, described the game as the first full-3D simulation title by a South Korean indie studio to make use of VTuber intellectual property in this way.[2][4][5]
The game was funded in part through a crowdfunding campaign on the South Korean platform Tumblbug, which ran from December 18, 2025 to January 7, 2026. The campaign raised approximately 130 million South Korean won from 777 backers, reaching 902% of its funding goal.[2][5][6][3]
Trade outlet IndieGame.com described the campaign's results as evidence that VTuber fan communities are willing to financially support game projects built around talent they follow, and cited industry commentary characterizing the project as an example of an indie studio securing development funding through IP collaboration without a major publisher.[3]
Release
[edit]Maid Cafe Simulator was announced for Windows via Steam, with initial coverage in early 2026 targeting a release in the second half of 2026.[1][2] A public demo was released on Steam on June 14, 2026, allowing players to interact with three of the game's five maid characters over roughly 60 minutes of gameplay.[7][8] As of that announcement, the game was slated to enter early access the following month.[7]
