Madeleine Dwyer is a New Zealand association football player who plays for Eastern Suburbs AFC and has represented New Zealand at under-16 level.
Career
[edit]Dwyer plays for Eastern Suburbs AFC in Auckland (since 2016). She was a member of the club's U18 youth League Squad in 2024, 2025 and 2026 [1], and the Women's First Team Squad in the 2025 and 2026 women's football seasons.[2]
In 2024, Dwyer represented New Zealand playing for Baradene College at the ISF Football World Cup in Dalian China.[3]
In 2025 Dwyer made her debut for the Eastern Suburbs AFC women's first team against Tauranga Moana (11th May 2025, Aged 15 years, 1 month and 5 days) scoring a goal on her debut [4].
In 2026, Dwyer was a member of the Auckland FC Women's Talent Development Centre[5] who played a 2 game friendly series against Wellington Phoenix. Dwyer represented New Zealand in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Football tour of Melbourne in July 2026 [6]. She was a member of the Eastern Suburbs AFC Women's first team squad who won the Kate Shepherd Cup[7], and the Baradene College First XI who won the New Zealand Secondary Schools 2026 Girls’ Premier Football Tournament tournament (National Championships) [8].
Dwyer was selected in the New Zealand U16 squad [9] for the 2026 OFC U-16 Women's Championship, held in Solomon Islands in Sept 2026. Dwyer made her international debut for New Zealand on 6th Sept 2026 starting against the host nation, Solomon Islands, and scored a goal on her international debut [10] [11]. Dwyer also scored in the semi final game that qualified the team for the 2027 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup[12]
Dwyer was selected in the New Zealand U17 squad[13] for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco (from 17 October to 7 November 2026), one of 10 players from the U-16 squad who won the 2026 OFC U-16 Championships under head coach Alana Gunn.
