Lawrence Chamurwa Mudzinganyama is a Zimbabwean-born businessman who has businesses in South Africa. He made headlines after appering on a viral video threatening to kill women at a restaurant after they rejected his romance advances.[1][2][3]
Vlamo resturant incident
[edit]Mudzinganyama is a businessman in South Africa who is the founder of Moriel Infrastructure Group.[4] His company has a tender with SANRAL .On September 18, 2026, Mudzinganyama was filmed at Vlamo Restaurant in Sandton Gate, Johannesburg, threatening to kill the women who had rejected his romantic advances.[5] In the video, which is circulating on the internet and social media, Mudzinganuyama could be heard shouting:“I could put a bullet in you now. I do not play. I will murder you now and walk.” He also went on to say, "I'm a wealthy man. You guys are poor ladies. “You’re a cheap b***h and you will remain that.” . [6][7] Mudzinganyama also told the women that he was the owner of the restaurant.
Aftermath
[edit]After the incident, the restaurant opened a case against Mudzinganyama and denied his claims of being the owner or part of its management. The women in the viral video also opened a case of intimidation, and the suspect is expected to appear in court on 01 October 2026.[8]
South Africans called for Mudzinganyama to be investigated and also as to how his company got to get tenders, as he was a Zimbabwean. His immigrant status was also called to be investigated.[9] SANRAL issued a statement and is investigating Mudzinganyama for his conduct.[10][11] The Board of Moriel Infrastructure Group has since resolved to terminate its association with Mudzinganyama. His lease at his residential place in Steyn City was also terminated. [12]
Mudzinganyama has issued an apology and will be appearing in court on charges of intimidation in October 2026.[13][14][15]
