Kristina Rybalchenko (Russian: Кристина Рыбальченко; born 28 August 1997),[1][2] known online as Kriss Drummer, is a Russian drummer and content creator based in Los Angeles.[2] She is known for rock and metal drum-cover videos on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Twitch, and is one of the most-followed drummers on Instagram.[2][3] She won Drumeo's Instagram Drummer of the Year award for 2022[4] and appeared in the teaser video for Limp Bizkit's 2025 single "Making Love to Morgan Wallen".[5][6]
Early life and education
[edit]Rybalchenko grew up in Khabarovsk in the Russian Far East. She has credited her parents with introducing her to rock music, particularly Metallica, and Metallica was the first band she saw live.[2] She played the xylophone and vibraphone for several years before taking up drums as a teenager, at around the age of 14.[2][7] She finished music school in Khabarovsk at 18, then concentrated on drums and joined her first band.[2] She also played drums in local cover bands.[7][8]
Career
[edit]Beginnings on YouTube
[edit]Rybalchenko recorded her first drumming video at 15 in a Khabarovsk nightclub owned by a friend of her father, describing it as a fun experiment.[2] She has said that Australian drummer Nic Pettersen and The Chainsmokers' drummer Matt McGuire inspired her to start her own YouTube channel.[2] Her move to full-time content creation was gradual: as her audience grew, brands and sponsors began approaching her, and music eventually became her living.[2]
Online content
[edit]Rybalchenko posts full drum-cover videos on YouTube under the handle @kriss_drummer and shares shorter clips on Instagram and TikTok.[3] By 2020 her YouTube covers ranged from pop-punk to metalcore, and she was supporting her work through Patreon.[9] She often splits one song into several short videos, one per section.[2] She records and edits her own videos and hands only the audio mixing to others.[2] Her YouTube channel also includes music-related videos, videos about her daily life and travel vlogs.[10] According to Drumeo, the channel passed one million subscribers in 2024, the year she began vlogging.[11] She also livestreams on Twitch.[12]
Modern Drummer described her in 2023 as a player comfortable across many genres who takes on technically demanding covers.[3] Rybalchenko has spoken about receiving sexist comments on her videos, including remarks about her clothing. She has said she has learned not to let them affect her and prefers to focus on her work and on positive feedback from her audience.[2]
Limp Bizkit teaser
[edit]On 4 September 2025, Rybalchenko posted a video of herself drumming along to an unreleased Limp Bizkit song. Fred Durst appears at the end, jokingly scolding her for leaking it.[5][13][14][15][16] The song was released on 12 September 2025 as "Making Love to Morgan Wallen", the band's first new music since their 2021 album Still Sucks, and was included on the soundtrack of the video game Battlefield 6.[6][17][18]
Drumeo appearance
[edit]In January 2026, she appeared in Drumeo's "first time" challenge series, working out a drum part for The Who's "Baba O'Riley" on first hearing, without having previously known the song or the band's drummer Keith Moon.[19][20]
Musical style and influences
[edit]Rybalchenko's early listening centred on Metallica, the band she has covered most often. She later moved toward heavier music, including Slipknot, System of a Down and Bring Me the Horizon, whose drummer Matt Nicholls she names as one of her greatest influences.[2] Among her favourite songs to play she lists Metallica's "Master of Puppets", System of a Down's "Toxicity" and Foo Fighters' "The Pretender".[2]
Personal life
[edit]Rybalchenko moved from Khabarovsk to Saint Petersburg in 2017.[7] She later lived in Tbilisi and Belgrade before moving to Los Angeles at the beginning of 2025.[2]
Equipment and endorsements
[edit]Rybalchenko plays a Gretsch drum kit with her own signature model of Meinl drumsticks, a 5B stick with an acorn tip that she launched in January 2022.[2][21][22] She has also used DW drums[2] and has endorsed Meinl cymbals, Remo drumheads and Gewa Drums.[10][8][7]
