Kive is a Swedish software company headquartered in Stockholm that develops artificial intelligence tools for creating and organising visual content. The company originally launched as an AI-powered visual asset library for creative professionals and later shifted its focus to AI-generated product photography and video for brands and e-commerce companies.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Kive was conceived in 2018 by Olof Lindh, a film director who built the initial product on nights and weekends while continuing to work as a director.[3] As a director, Lindh was represented by production companies Iconoclast and B-Reel Films.[4]

In December 2020, the company announced a €1.5 million seed investment co-led by EQT Ventures and Creandum; the deal was Creandum's 100th investment.[1][3] At launch, the product was a cloud-based visual library that used machine learning to automatically categorise visual assets by attributes such as lighting, style, environment, type of shot, and the emotional state of people depicted.[1]

In October 2022, Kive raised a US$7 million seed round led by Heartcore Capital, with participation from EQT Ventures, Creandum, Intercom co-founder Des Traynor, and VEED co-founder Sabba Keynejad.[4][5] At the time of the round, the platform reportedly had a waitlist of more than 10,000 people.[4]

In January 2026, Swedish technology publication Breakit reported that Kive's revenue had grown roughly tenfold in the preceding months, after several years of slower progress, with a team of seven employees.[2]

Product

[edit]

Kive's original product was an AI-powered visual library aimed at filmmakers, designers, photographers, architects, fashion stylists, publishers, and e-commerce brands. Rather than relying on fixed categories, the library organised itself around each user's uploaded content.[1][3]

The company's current platform centres on generating product imagery and video with AI: brands upload product photos and use the tools to produce marketing and e-commerce visuals.[6][2]
