Keo are a British alternative rock band based in London. The group consists of brothers vocalist Finn Keogh and bassist Conor Keogh, alongside guitarist Jimmy Lanwern and drummer Oli Spackman. Their music blends elements of alternative rock, shoegaze, and 1990s-influenced grunge.[5] The band's debut album Put a Smile On for Me was released in September 2026, on Island Records.[6]
The band gained attention in the mid-2020s with the release of their debut singles including "I Lied, Amber", "Thorn" and the EP Siren (2025), alongside festival appearances and sold-out headline tours across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Critics have noted stylistic similarities to artists such as Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and the Smashing Pumpkins. Frontman Finn Keogh's vocal style and song writing frequently address themes such as trust, relationships and personal recovery. The band have received support from music publications including Rolling Stone UK, NME, Clash and Dork as well as airplay on BBC Radio 1.[7][8]
History
[edit]Formation and early years
[edit]Keo were formed by brothers Finn and Conor Keogh, who spent much of their childhood touring across the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States with their father’s Irish folk music project. The brothers later formed Keo with guitarist Jimmy Lanwern and drummer Oli Spackman. The band eventually became based in London while developing their sound within the UK alternative rock scene.
Prior to their official releases, the group built a following through live performances and early online recordings, including the song "Crow", which appeared online in 2024, as did "Fly" through SoundCloud.[9] During performances in 2025, the band played multiple songs that had not yet received official releases, including "Hands", "Roadkill" and "Thorn". Some of these songs were already familiar to audiences through online circulation and word-of-mouth among fans.[10] Several of these early songs were later included on the band’s debut EP Siren, which was released digitally on streaming platforms in June 2025.[11]
Breakthrough and debut releases
[edit]In March 2025, Keo released their debut single "I Lied, Amber", which received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and marked the band's first major commercial release. [12] The band followed the single with additional material including "Thorn", and released their debut EP Siren in June 2025 through AWAL. Following the EP’s release, Keo undertook a sold-out headline tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland in October 2025. In 2026 the band announced a larger headline tour across the UK and mainland Europe, including performances in cities such as Birmingham, Manchester, London, Berlin and Paris.[13][4]
