[edit]Mahesh Gupta studied mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and worked at Indian Oil Corporation before starting his own business.[4]
According to The Economic Times and Business Standard, Gupta became interested in water purification after concerns about drinking water quality and the limitations of ultraviolet based purifiers available at the time.[5][1]

Reverse osmosis water purifiers were more expensive than ultraviolet-based systems during the company's early years in the domestic market .[1]
Products and technology
[edit]Kent RO Systems manufactures water purifiers based on reverse osmosis technology .[1] The company's products also use ultraviolet purification (UV) and ultrafiltration (UF) technologies .[6]
In 2013 Hindustan Times reported that Kent RO had introduced a system that is designed to retain minerals in purified water. [6] That year, The Times of India covered the launch of the Kent Supreme water purifier model.[7]
The company later entered the small kitchen appliance segment with products including vegetable cleaners and atta makers .[8] It also entered the electric fan market under the Kuhl brand.[9]
Marketing
[edit]Kent RO signed actress Hema Malini as a brand ambassador in 2005.[10] By 2007 the company had also signed actresses Esha Deol and Ahana Deol for advertising campaigns. [11]
Actor Shah Rukh Khan later appeared in campaigns for the company's security product range.[12]
