Kenneth E. Torrance (August 23, 1940 – February 15, 2010) was a researcher and professor at Cornell University. Torrance led a long career at the university, with publications covering a wide range of fields,[1] but the majority of his influence was his contribution to optics and computer graphics, in the form of BRDFs which he co-authored, most prominently the Torrance–Sparrow BRDF with E. M. Sparrow[2] and the more computer graphics-oriented Cook–Torrance BRDF, with Robert L. Cook.[3]
