kbbreview (originally called Kitchen Bedroom Bathroom Review) is a UK trade magazine covering the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom (KBB) retail and design industry.
History
[edit]kbbreview's first issue was published in 1984.[1]. Originally published under the title Kitchen Bedroom Bathroom Review, the publication later adopted the shortened name "kbbreview", reflecting the industry abbreviation of “KBB". The magazine has been audited by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) since December 1986.
The magazine was formerly owned by DMG Media.[2] In March 2009, Taylist Media acquired the magazine (along with other titles like Studio, Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms and ERT) from DMG World Media as part of a management buy-out.[3]
During April 2020, Taylist Media temporarily paused production on the print version of kbbreview as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.[4][5] However, in August 2020, kbbreview announced the magazine would return to print in September of that year.[6]
The magazine's editorial remit covers news from across the UK's KBB industry, but it has a core focus on the independent kitchen and bathroom retail market[7]. As well as being a source of news[8][9], the magazine also features opinions, analyses and research[10][11][12][13][14] on the kitchen and bathroom trade sector as well as media events[15][16].
Readership
[edit]The magazine operates with a controlled circulation model, which means it distributes copies exclusively to registered industry professionals who have requested the publication. As of December 2025, kbbreview's average monthly circulation was 14,114.[17]
Media platforms
[edit]Outside of its magazine format, kbbreview operates across several media channels. These include news website kbbreview.com and the twice-weekly kbbreview Newsletter[18]
Taylist Media also launched The kbbreview Podcast in 2020.[19][20] As of March 2026, The kbbreview Podcast has recorded more than 300 episodes.[21]
The publication also hosts the annual kbbreview Retail & Design Awards, originally launched in 1994, to recognise design talent across the KBB sector.[22][23][24][25][26] The 2021 event was awarded the silver "Best Covid-19 Bounceback" accolade at the Awards Awards in 2022,[27] and was nominated as a finalist in the 2023 Publisher Podcast Awards.[28]
