Kalanahi Khurd (Hindi: कलनही खुर्द) is a village located in the Nichlaul tehsil of Maharajganj district, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is identified by the Local Government Directory (LGD) village code 183945.[1]
Geography and postal services
[edit]Kalanahi Khurd is situated in the fertile Terai plains of eastern Uttar Pradesh, approximately 13 km (8.1 mi) east of Nichlaul. Postal services for the village are handled under the Doma Khas branch post office under Nichlaul, with the postal index number (PIN) 273304.
History
[edit]Historically, before the establishment of Maharajganj as an independent district in 1989, the area encompassing Kalanahi Khurd was administered under the historical Gorakhpur district.[2] During the British colonial era, land settlement and revenue administration in the region were documented under the Gorakhpur District Gazetteers, where rural settlements in the Nichlaul tract were governed under the Mahalwari revenue system.[3]
Economy and agriculture
[edit]The local economy is predominantly agrarian. Situated in the fertile Terai belt, the agricultural land around the village is extensively cultivated for cash crops, with sugarcane being one of the principal produce of the area.
Education and infrastructure

Culture and religion
[edit]The village contains local places of worship, including the Bahiri Maai Sthan temple, situated towards the eastern boundary bordering the nearby forest area.

[edit]The village operates under the local self-government framework of the Panchayati Raj system, falling within the Nichlaul development block and sub-district revenue jurisdiction. Land revenue and plot demarcations are maintained by the Board of Revenue, Uttar Pradesh.[5]
