Phoenix Guerrero, known professionally as Joy Divizn, is an American photographer and filmmaker. He has worked with the rapper Playboi Carti and the Opium collective. He directed the five short films released with Ken Carson's 2026 album xperiment.[1]
Early life
[edit]Guerrero grew up in Houston, Texas.[2] He has said a summer film camp in third grade got him interested in filmmaking, and he cites Fight Club as an influence.[2] He moved to Los Angeles at about 19 with $100.[2] He has a tattoo reading "Joy", which he describes as a reminder to stay positive.[2]
Career
[edit]Guerrero first approached the stylist Ian Connor through Twitter. He was assisting the rapper Maxo Kream at the time, and learned that Connor lived nearby.[2] Through Connor he joined Playboi Carti's circle, though he said in 2023 that he had never signed to Opium.[2] He filmed studio sessions for Carti's album Whole Lotta Red (2020), and says he keeps unreleased footage of Virgil Abloh's first runway show for Louis Vuitton.[2] A 2024 article on Opium named him among the creative consultants who shaped the label's look, alongside the producer F1lthy.[3]
The credits database Dork lists him as director of photography on Lil Keed's "Oh My God" (2019). It credits him as video director on Carti's "Spicy*" (2024), and as director, cinematographer and editor on "Like Weezy" (2025).[4] The Flow calls him an American director known for Carti videos and the Opium circle.[5]
In 2026 he directed five short films that accompanied Ken Carson's album xperiment, released on Opium and Interscope Records. Outlets covering the album described the films as mixing science fiction with surreal storytelling.[1][6][7]
