Relationship with the Anglican Catholic Church

[edit]

Following the 1978 Congress of St. Louis and the formation of the Anglican Catholic Church (Original Province), Anglicans in India appealed for spiritual affiliation with the Anglican Catholic Church.<[4]

In 1984, the dioceses of the Church of India (CIPBC) were received by the Anglican Catholic Church and constituted as its Second Province.

The Church of India continued as the Second Province of the Anglican Catholic Church from 1984 until between 2013 and 2017, when it rescinded communion over matters relating to the status of the Second Province and became an independent and autonomous province.

In 2018, an agreement was signed between the Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Anglican Catholic Church and the Metropolitan of the Church of India (CIPBC) restoring communio in sacris.<[5]

Apostolic Succession

[edit]

Because after the pan-Protestant union of the Church of North India and the Church of South India, the Church of India's apostolic succession had to be reaffirmed, which was done by the consecration of Archbishop Augustine.<[6]

The Archbishop's apostolic succession also comes from the Anglican Catholic Church by the Most Reverend John Charles Vockler and the Right Reverend Mark Haverland and three other bishops from the Anglican Catholic Church.<[7]
