Jacob DiRenzo is an American football coach and graduate assistant coach for theSpringfield College team in Springfield, Massachusetts, working with the outside linebackers. He previously coached the defensive line and fullbacks at Springfield and spent the 2023 season on the Albany Great Danes football staff as an offensive assistant.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]DiRenzo is from Clifton Park, New York. He attended Shenendehowa High School where he was the starting fullback on the Varsity team.[3][4] He continued playing fullback at Springfield College in Springfield, MA where he earned a B.S. in Movement and Sports Studies, graduating cum laude (minor in Athletic Coaching) in 2024, and is pursuing an M.Ed. in Athletic Leadership at Springfield College (expected 2026).[5]
Coaching career
[edit]University at Albany (2023)
[edit]In 2023, DiRenzo worked with the University at Albany, football as an offensive assistant and assistant offensive line coach. According to the team's athletics department, his responsibilities were practice scripting, sideline signaling, and opponent analysis using XOS ThunderCloud. That season, Albany won the Colonial Athletic Association championship and NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision semifinals appearance, losing to South Dakota St.[6]
Springfield College (2024–present)
[edit]DiRenzo returned to Springfield in January 2024 as defensive line coach. In that role, he was responsible for positional meetings, organized film cut-ups and prepared drill materials for practice.[7] He later shifted to working as the fullbacks coach for the 2024 season. Springfield won its fourth straight NEWMAC championship and advanced to the 2024 NCAA Division III elite eight. During that season he coached Associated Press All-American running back Arsen Shtefan, who rushed for 1,716 yards and 21 touchdowns.[8]
In February 2025, Springfield announced that DiRenzo was joining the defensive staff as graduate assistant coaching the outside linebackers. His recruiting territory includes the North Shore of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the Orlando/Tampa region.[7]

[edit]In 2024, DiRenzo was featured in a FloFootball and Springfield College collaborative video titled Mic'd Up With Springfield's Coach JD,[10] published on YouTube, where he appeared during a Springfield College football practice session.[11]
