Izabela Chamczyk (born 1980 in Częstochowa) is a Polish artist, painter, performance artist and video artist.
Biography
[edit]Chamczyk graduated with distinction in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław in 2009, in the studio of Paweł Jarodzki,[1] and also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań in the studio of Dominik Lejman. She is a three-time scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage – the "Młoda Polska" (Young Poland) scholarship of the National Centre for Culture in 2010, a Minister of Culture and National Heritage scholarship in 2015,[2] and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage "Kultura w sieci" (Culture Online) scholarship in 2020. She is also a finalist of the Artystyczna Podróż Hestii (Hestia Artistic Journey) competition,[3] the Vordemberge-Gildewart Foundation competition[4] at MOCAK, the "Bielska Jesień" Painting Biennale,[2] the Eugeniusz Geppert Competition in Wrocław,[5] and the Triennial of the Young in Orońsko.[6]
She has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions and projects at venues including the SCC Gallery in Isfahan (Iran), the Musrara Festival (Israel), the Zachęta Project Room in Warsaw, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Gierowski Foundation in Warsaw, the Entropia Gallery in Wrocław, the Biała Gallery and the Labirynt Gallery in Lublin, the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Opole, the BWA in Zielona Góra, the Centre of Contemporary Art in Toruń, Mosart in Gorzów Wielkopolski, the Konteksty Festival of Ephemeral Art in Sokołowsko, and the Erarta festival in Saint Petersburg (Russia).[7]
Her works are held in numerous collections, including the National Museum, Wrocław,[8] the National Museum in Lublin, the Mazovian Centre of Contemporary Art "Elektrownia" in Radom, the Imago Mundi Collection (Italy)[9], PKO Bank Polski, the Andel's Hotel, Ergo Hestia, the Centre of Contemporary Art in Toruń, the Lower Silesian Zachęta in Wrocław, and the Archive of Polish Performance Art[10] at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, as well as many private collections in Poland and abroad.[7]
Chamczyk is also active on the internet; during the COVID-19 pandemic she presented online performances.[11]
