INNOCEAN WORLDWIDE INC. (Korean: 이노션; KRX: 214320) is a South Korean advertising and marketing company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 2005 as the in-house advertising agency of Hyundai Motor Group, it has grown into a global marketing company operating 32 offices in 22 countries with approximately 4,000 employees.[1]
The company is known for producing Super Bowl advertisements for Hyundai and Kia, and for winning Grand Prix awards at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 2024 and 2025, including the 2025 Entertainment Lions Grand Prix for Night Fishing (밤낚시), a theatrically released short film shot entirely with vehicle-mounted cameras in partnership with Hyundai Motor Company.[2]
History
[edit]Innocean was established on 17 May 2005 as an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group by Chung Sung-yi, the eldest daughter of then group chairman Chung Mong-koo and a granddaughter of Hyundai founder Chung Ju-yung.[3] Headquartered in South Korea, the company has grown into a global company operating 32 offices in 22 countries with approximately 4,000 employees.[1] The company expanded internationally with regional headquarters in Europe (2007), the Americas (2008), and a joint venture in China (2009).
In 2014, a stake sale to investors including the private equity arm of Morgan Stanley valued the company at about ₩1 trillion.[4] In July 2015, Innocean was listed on the KOSPI.[5][6] In 2016, its Super Bowl commercial became the first by a non-U.S. brand to rank first in USA Today's Ad Meter.[7]

In 2024, Innocean won its first Cannes Lions Grand Prix — the Grand Prix for Good — for The First Speech, a campaign created by Innocean Berlin for Reporters Without Borders. It was part of five wins at the festival that year (one Grand Prix, one Gold, and three Bronze), the company's best-ever Cannes Lions performance.[9] In 2025, Night Fishing, a short film produced with Hyundai Motor Company and released theatrically in South Korea, won the Grand Prix in the Entertainment Lions category at Cannes Lions.[2]
In February 2026, Innocean was ranked the most awarded advertising agency in South Korea in Campaign Brief Asia's 2025 Creative Rankings.[10]
In March 2026, Innocean was named to Ad Age's 2026 A-List, becoming the first Korean agency to be selected among the top 10 marketing firms in the United States.[11]
Operations
[edit]Innocean provides integrated marketing services including brand campaigns, media planning and buying, digital and performance marketing, brand experience (BX) for large-scale events, and content production. While a significant portion of its revenue comes from Hyundai Motor Group affiliates, the company has expanded its non-affiliated client base.[12] Beyond Hyundai Motor Group companies, its clients have included Google Korea, Domino's Pizza, Hanwha Group, SK Hynix, TaylorMade, and Wienerschnitzel.[11] The company has staged brand experience programs around global events including the FIFA World Cup, CES, and international motor shows.
Since the mid-2020s, Innocean has expanded into AI-based marketing solutions, content IP, film production ventures, and startup brand acceleration, positioning itself as a brand experience company beyond traditional advertising. In 2026, the company opened an office in Bengaluru, India, as a hub combining data, AI, and content capabilities.[13]
