Inanimate Insanity II: The Movie is an American animated science fantasy comedy-drama film directed by Adam Katz, Brian Koch, and Justin Chapman and written by Brian Koch. It takes place during the second season of Inanimate Insanity, and follows Suitcase and Knife on a journey to MeCloud in order to defeat Steve Cobs, the CEO of “Meeple Headquarters”, a parody of the Apple Headquarters. The film stars Joshua Waters as the main antagonist.
It was separated into three different acts, with the full movie played at Rich Mix Theatre in London on November 24, 2024. It also premiered at Laemmle NoHo 7 Theater, Los Angeles, California, on November 25 and 26.[1][2]
Plot
[edit]This article's plot summary may be too long or excessively detailed. (June 2026) |
The film was split into three episodes known as acts.
Act One: “The Reality Of The Situation”
[edit]During a flashback, MePhone3GS, alongside other Meeple products, flee with stolen eggs from The Prime Shimmer. Back to the present, taking place after “Truth or Flare”,[a] MePhone4 introduces himself, and Suitcase and Knife visit Hotel O.J for a “HOP” party with every contestant. Taco, after attempting to reunite with Pickle, cries at Pickle’s sudden deletion. MePhone4 realizes he can’t recover Pickle, and discovers Cobs was behind it.
The final challenge of Inanimate Insanity II is announced; for Suitcase and Knife to find a way to “defeat” Cobs, while Baseball and Lightbulb are tasked with protecting everyone at Hotel O.J, which they decide to keep secret from the contestants. After hearing a noise identical to Egg’s wail, Fan, alongside Test Tube and Paintbrush, leave HOP to find out what’s happening.
Suitcase and Knife arrive to MeCloud via hot air balloon, and reach a closet. O.J is suddenly deleted after having a small argument with Paper. Fan, Test Tube, and Paintbrush arrive at “Purgatory Mansion”, having located the noise, and find Bow, Dough, Marshmallow, and Apple living there, with Bow claiming the noise was her scream. Meanwhile, Suitcase and Knife find MePhone3GS in the closet, who tells how he was sent by Cobs to retrieve eggs of The Prime Shimmer, however Cobs didn’t see the egg as enough. The two finalists arrive at Steve Cobs’ office, and MePhone4 decides to call him. Cobs reveals to the finalists that MePhone4 created the contestants, not just Inanimate Insanity.
Act Two: “Through No Choice Of Your Own”
[edit]Paintbrush and Marshmallow talk, with multiple flashbacks of MePhone4’s creation of the contestants occurring when they speak of feeling like there were rules set in place. Test Tube is deleted, while Suitcase and Knife angrily confront MePhone4 with Cobs’ phone. Steve Cobs takes over hosting the show and changes the final challenge into a fight to the death between the two finalists, locking them in a room and threatening to pull the plug on all of MePhone4’s creations if they retaliate. While in the room, Suitcase faces hallucinations of drowning in an ocean after hallucinating Knife ripping her in half.
Fan comes up with a theory about why Bow’s scream is identical to Egg’s wail, believing that Steve Cobs plans to use the Shimmer’s relationship with the contestants as bait into getting more eggs, and that the second lost egg is inside of MePhone4. Shortly after, Fan and Lightbulb are deleted, causing Paintbrush to ask how Bow became a ghost. After Nickel and Tissues are also deleted, the contestants and MePad form a “circle of protection”. When encountering MePhoneX, they find out that Toilet was the one deleting the contestants and controlling MePhoneX since A.D.A.M claimed he would become a better assistant. MePhone4 decides to reveal to the contestants that they are his creations, causing anger from everyone. After Toilet is caught by Cobs, MePhoneX goes on a killing spree, with a couple contestants escaping with MePad to Purgatory Mansion.
Toilet finds Suitcase and Knife in a room, however is yelled at by Knife to leave, causing an argument between the finalists. Meanwhile, Bow is finishing the story of how she became a ghost, and the contestants are teleported to them. Bow and Apple team up in order to send a possessed pink version of Apple to help the finalists at Meeple. Apple offers for them to leave, however Suitcase and Knife insist on staying to stop Cobs. They are officially sent out to start the final challenge by Cobs, in which they pretend to fight. Afterwards, Toilet pulls the plug, causing every contestant along with the ship to get deleted.
Act Three: “Objects in Mirror”
[edit]After the events of “Through No Choice Of Your Own”, MePhone4 and Steve Cobs are the only ones left in the area. The Prime Shimmer’s ship comes due to Bow’s screaming sound. MePhone4 warns them to escape, and after attempting to stab them before they escaped, Cobs attempts to kill MePhone4. Meanwhile, each contestant is sent to MePhone4’s “void”, where all of his creations reside. Suitcase has another hallucination, and encounters an alive Box, who helps Suitcase find the others. Box reveals they drowned before receiving a MeLife icon, while attempting to audition for Inanimate Insanity, and has been living here since before the events of season one.
Cobs attempts to call more MePhones to help kill MePhone4, while Bow, Dough, and MePad arrive to help defend him. Meanwhile, Suitcase and Box use MeLife to recover all the contestants. Everyone is told how to escape; they must complete a race with a moving red line behind them, which will delete someone from existence permanently unless they jump over it, which makes them a ghost. After finding out Fan’s theory was right, the contestants call MePhone4 to ask if they can take the egg out, though it will prevent him from recovering anyone again. He lets them do it, and Silver Spoon is thrown up to get it, succeeding.
MePad sacrifices himself to protect MePhone4 and the contestants, being stabbed by Cobs. Every contestant completes the race, with Suitcase and Knife checking to make sure nobody is left. When noticing Marshmallow about to get hit by the red line, Knife grabs her and throws her to the finish, dying in the process. The contestants are all recovered. Cobs is killed in an explosion from an egg-disguised bomb created by Suitcase with the Pic-Nix Tables, winning Inanimate Insanity II and the million dollars in the process. Toilet is shown to be hurt from the fall, and Knife is revealed to have become a ghost. MePhone4 retires and goes off on his own, while Spoiled Lemon have a concert to celebrate Inanimate Insanity’s completion. The film ends with Suitcase and Knife talking on the roof of Purgatory Mansion.
Development
[edit]Prior to the release of the film, the second season of Inanimate Insanity was on a 5 year hiatus. After the return of the season in August 2024, an alternate reality game was set up leading to the finale.
