iQ Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative headquartered in Vancouver, Washington. Founded in 1940, it serves members in southwest Washington and Oregon.[1]

History

[edit]

iQ Credit Union was founded in 1940 as Clark County Teachers Credit Union.[2] It was renamed Clark County School Employees Credit Union in 1966.[2]

The organization adopted the name iQ Credit Union in 2004.[2] In 2005, it merged with City Employees of Clark County Federal Credit Union.[2]

In 2014, iQ Credit Union merged with Lacamas Community Credit Union following approval by members of both organizations. The consolidation expanded its branch network, workforce, and membership.[3]

Programs

[edit]

iQ Credit Union operates a student-run campus branch program in local high schools that provides students with hands-on experience in financial services.[4]

The program allows students to perform basic banking transactions and develop financial and workplace skills.[4]

Coverage of the program has described it as a financial education initiative in which students operate branches within their schools under supervision.[5]

The campus branch program has also been cited as an approach to workforce development within the financial services industry.[6]

Additional local reporting has highlighted the program’s focus on teaching financial literacy and money management skills to students.[7]
