The iPhone 18 Pro (stylized as iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max) is an upcoming series of smartphones to be developed and marketed by Apple that will be part of the twentieth generation of the iPhone. To be created by Apple Inc., It is expected to be announced alongside an 'iPhone Ultra' at an Apple Event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, on September 8, 2026?[2][3] It will be the first iPhone to be completely developed under the guidance of John Ternus and the last iPhone to be overseen by Tim Cook, and it will serve as the successor to the IPhone 17 Pro.[4]

History

[edit]

Price increase

[edit]

In June 2026, The Wall Street Journal reported that the iPhone 18 Pro pricing has increased and the iPhone 18 Pro could start near $1,399.[5][6] Tim Cook stated that the company is not immune to soaring memory chip costs, and more clarification could arrive with the next iPhone in September 2026,[5][6] and suggested that Apple would need to increase device costs to maintain its current profit margins, given the cost of memory chips and SSDs.[7] Fellow companies like Nvidia and OpenAI are building AI server facilities, which may have caused the chip shortage and rising costs.[8] J.P. Morgan stated that iPhone price hike would not be more than $50,[9] and Fixed Focus Digital stated that it will definitely see a price hike adding that the foldable iPhone would be priced 10% to 20% than previously expected.[10] IDC predicts that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max may see a $200 price increase.[11]

Data breach and iPhone 18 Pro leak

[edit]

The A20 Pro, which would be used in the iPhone 18 Pro, was allegedly leaked in June 2026 adopting the Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) packaging.[12][13] In addition, the motherboard design for the iPhone 18 Pro, as well as information for the list of suppliers, parts, images, and videos of the unreleased iPhone 18 Pro prototype were leaked after confidential Apple files were leaked after a supplier cyberattack.[a]

Rumors and development

[edit]

Many of the iPhone 18 Pro features and design changes were leaked prior to the official launch, including its colors, a smaller dynamic Island, battery capacity, and camera upgrades.[18][19][20][21] Multiple reports of the iPhone 18 Pro were reported In June 2026, ranging from supposed to be screen protectors,[22] to a larger camera module,[23][19] to pictures showing the iPhone 18 Pro's sim tray in a rumored color.[24]
