Humor FM (Russian: Юмор ФМ) or Humour FM is a Russian radio station featuring pop music and jokes. The age of the radio audience is 20-65 years.
History
[edit]The radio station began broadcasting in September 2005 on 88.7 FM in Moscow, replacing Radio Disco (which had closed due to low ratings and increased competition), and became the first fully comedy radio station in Russia. At the same time, since the spring of 2005, the format of Radio Disco has gradually begun to move closer to the future format of Humor FM.[1]. The musical format of Humor FM was limited to light pop music, since the musical component of the radio station was not supposed to prevail over the humorous one.
The format and advertising campaign, unusual for Russia, bore fruit: by the end of December, Humor FM's ratings were approximately twice those of Radio Disco. Maxim Zabelin has been appointed General Producer of the radio station Humor FM. Stanislav Lyasota, who transferred from Radio Disco, has been appointed Commercial Director. The radio station was positioned as a music and information station, aimed at a more mature audience.
In the summer of 2014, Humor FM completely stopped playing foreign music and switched to purely Russian-language pop music; its comedy programs also changed significantly. As a result, the radio station's ratings began to fall. To maintain the popularity of Humor FM, it was necessary to constantly update its content (jokes and anecdotes quickly become outdated), which was achieved through collaboration with the Anekdot.ru portal and other online resources, television channels, and interactive communication between the presenters and listeners via phone and SMS[2].
Ratings
[edit]From April to September 2011, the radio station had an audience of 5.149 million people in 115 broadcast cities, and 790,200 listeners per day in Moscow from September to November. Humor FM's most typical listeners are teenagers and young adults aged 12-19, as well as men aged 30—59[3]
