HEARTROCKER (YouTuber)

[edit]

HEARTROCKER, commonly known as Aek, is a Thai YouTuber, game caster, and livestreamer. He is known primarily for gaming videos and livestreams featuring commentary, playthroughs, and multiplayer games. He has maintained an anonymous public persona and commonly appears wearing a white mask.

HEARTROCKER's YouTube channel was created on December 3, 2012. As of September 24, 2026, third-party YouTube tracking services recorded approximately 9.67 million subscribers, 4.19 billion views, and more than 3,300 uploaded videos[1] on the channel.

Early life and beginnings

[edit]

According to published biographical profiles, Aek was born on May 8, 1992. His online identity is primarily associated with the name Aek, while his legal name has not been publicly established.[2]

Aek became interested in creating videos while in high school. He and his friend KC experimented with filming and editing videos using a mobile phone. He initially created comedic dubbed videos, commonly referred to in Thailand as phak nayok or "comedic dubbing", before moving toward gaming content.

His early work was published under the name Plaiteang Film (ปลายเตียงฟิล์ม). The channel featured comedic voice-over videos based on existing films and television programs. Among the videos associated with this period were parodies involving Death Note and horror-related content.

Career

[edit]

2012–2013: HEARTROCKER

[edit]

Aek later shifted his focus from comedy dubbing to game-casting and began using the name HEARTROCKER. His YouTube channel was created on December 3, 2012.

One of his early major series was based on The Walking Dead, which helped establish his audience as a gaming creator. His content during this period also included horror games such as Slender: The Eight Pages. The channel became known for combining gameplay with spoken commentary and reactions rather than presenting gameplay without narration.

2014–2017: Expansion and livestreaming

[edit]

During the mid-2010s, HEARTROCKER expanded his content beyond horror games and produced playthroughs of a variety of titles. His game list included action, adventure, role-playing, simulation, and multiplayer games such as South Park: The Stick of Truth, Far Cry 3, FIFA 17, and Dead by Daylight.[3]

HEARTROCKER also became involved with live streaming. In 2016, Twitch Thailand documented his participation in the Thailand Game Show BIG Festival, where HEARTROCKER and other creators associated with the Boba Family appeared at Twitch's booth.

The Boba Family, also referred to as the Boba or Bo-Bah Family in Thai gaming communities, was a group of gaming creators that included HEARTROCKER, CigaretteS, iamsometimes, Jamezconer and other collaborators. Members frequently appeared together in multiplayer games and livestreams.[4]

During this period, livestreaming became an important part of HEARTROCKER's online activity, alongside his established YouTube videos.

2018–2019: Variety gaming content

[edit]

HEARTROCKER continued producing story-driven and single-player games while also expanding into simulation and sandbox games.

In 2018, he received the Game Caster award at the Thailand Zocial Awards, in the Best Social Entertainment category.[5]

His content later included games such as Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo. These games differed from the horror and action titles commonly associated with his earlier content and required longer-form building and management gameplay. His Planet Zoo videos were subsequently associated with increased interest in the game among Thai gaming audiences.

HEARTROCKER also produced playthroughs of narrative-focused games, including titles in which player decisions affect the story. His approach generally involved providing continuous spoken commentary while playing rather than presenting edited gameplay alone.

2020: Livestreaming and awards

[edit]

In 2020, HEARTROCKER reached 6 million YouTube subscribers and introduced YouTube channel memberships. The membership system was associated with the fan community commonly referred to as ร้อนใน.[6]

He continued to participate in multiplayer gaming with the Boba Family and appeared in gaming events and tournaments, including Dead by Daylight competitions and an Among Us tournament.[7]

In 2020, HEARTROCKER received several awards. He was also a finalist in the Gaming category of the 2020 Thailand Zocial Awards.[8]

2021–2023: Continued growth and gaming community presence

[edit]

HEARTROCKER continued to publish gaming videos and livestreams across a range of genres, including horror, story-driven, simulation, cooperative, and multiplayer games.

In 2021, he received the Best Influencer on Social Media in Gaming & Esports award at the Thailand Zocial Awards 2021.[9]

In 2022, HEARTROCKER was nominated for Game Creator of the Year at the Thailand Game Awards. The award was ultimately won by Zbing Z.[10]

In 2023, HEARTROCKER received recognition at the Thailand Social AIS Gaming Awards, including The Most Popular AIS eSports Fanpage award. He was also recognized as The Most Popular Male Game Content Creator in the awards covering activity from 2023.[11]

2024–present

[edit]

HEARTROCKER continued to maintain a large audience on YouTube and remained active in gaming-related collaborations and promotional projects.

In 2024, Garena's RoV announced a collaboration with HEARTROCKER featuring an in-game Heartrocker-themed skin for Stuart. The skin incorporated elements associated with his online identity, including red-colored clothing and his white mask.[12]

At the Thailand Social Awards 2024, HEARTROCKER received the Best Creator Channel on YouTube award.[13]

At the Thailand Social AIS Gaming Awards 2025, HEARTROCKER received the The Most Popular Male Game Content Creator award and was also recognized as The Most Popular Game Content Creator on the AIS eSports Fanpage.[14]

In 2026, HEARTROCKER again received the The Most Popular Male Game Content Creator award at the Thailand Social AIS Gaming Awards, as well as The Most Popular Game Content Creator on the AIS eSports Fanpage.[15]

As of September 2026, third-party tracking of his main YouTube channel listed approximately 9.67 million subscribers and 4.19 billion total views.[1]

Controversies

[edit]

2020 controversy

[edit]

In October 2020, HEARTROCKER and members of the Boba Family became involved in an online controversy concerning the use of the Thai word "หอม" in a gaming livestream. The dispute involved differing interpretations of whether the word was being used jokingly or in a context related to sexual harassment.

HEARTROCKER subsequently stated that he was uncomfortable with the issue and apologized for making jokes about the subject. Following the controversy, HEARTROCKER and several members of the group temporarily closed their Twitter accounts. Contemporary reports documented disagreement among users regarding the context and intent of the comments.[16]
