Draft:Halo tides

halo tides were an Australian indie rock/dream pop band formed in South Australia, 2024. It originally started off as a solo project for frontman Tyrell Campion in July 2024 and is currently back to being a solo act consisting of Tyrell handling all instruments and recording responsibility. The band's original line-up consisted of guitarist and vocalist Tyrell Campion, guitarists Jamie Anderson and Cody Cook and drummer Dylan Turner.

The band released their debut album, Mortal Airways, on December 29th 2024. After the group's first split between Cody, Jamie and Tyrell & Dylan... Cody & Jamie left the group due to creative differences but they still remained close collaborators during 2025. With the split leaving just Tyrell & Dylan left, they got together at the start of November and wrote Mortal Airways second track "Drive Like I do". What seemed to be a duo soon became a 4 piece again, with Maddy Clare on bass and Tobi Casey on drums. They finished writing & recording Mortal Airways and did a few gigs around south Australia to support the record and also gained some radio play on local indie radio stations. At the end of the first few Mortal Airways gigs Tyrell & Dylan began having a difficult creative & personal relationship. Ego clashes between the two heavily influenced the direction of the record and even the live performances. Dylan, Tobi and Maddy then dropped out of the group to form their own band called Paradoxa - for creative differences, Dylan Tobi and Maddy wanted to push for a grunge and heavy metal sound but found it impossible to implement their styles due to Tyrell's original dreamy sound & vision - playing to serve the music, Tyrell heavily detested self indulgent performance and guitar solos, so it was back to being an one man band by April 2025. Tyrell then followed it with I'm Washing My Hands at the Bellagio, for The Infinite sadness of London & loss and the foldout mattress on May 21st 2025 just after his first festival show at Adelaide festival centre on May 17th 2025. The sophomore album features a few Collab's with old member Cody during one on one hangouts, reinforcing Cody & Tyrell's friendship and Cody's contribution to halo tides' sound. Tyrell continued to drop 4 more albums that year 'GOKOTTA' & 'Jesus 2006' on August 23rd, 'continental drift' on October 4th, and the partially successful 6th independent halo tides' album 'melancholia', which dropped on the 30th of November, on release day Tyrell also scored an full length 40 minute exclusive radio interview with High Fidelity 100.5 WOWfm which helped Tyrell reach more listeners respectively, the interview is now considered underground lost media due to archival problems with the Radio Station. The album, including their debut continued to receive good reception from music blog websites & on bandcamp. Tyrell returned in January 2026 and dropped "I wish it was the 60s, I wish we could be happy" which gained halo tides' first music video for the albums' single "charcoal (opal)". Tyrell took an break from live shows and decided to write & record the self titled halo tides album which released May 21st 2026. the albums' standout tracks "Yellowsong" & "sunds" was recorded & co-written with underground solo folk artist Dior Fraus, maintaining collaborative input, despite 6 out of 4 albums being totally recorded by just Tyrell alone, tackling guitars, bass, drums, synths, production, song writing, etc... The self titled album received little to no promotion, nor good reception. Then came June and Tyrell leaked another album entitled "KAIROS" just before he was set to perform at Arthur Art Bar for Make Music Day festival 2026 on the 20th. Tyrell debuted the albums' standout tracks "Talem" "1990s.." & "heeling" to an well attended audience. As of August 2026, the project went on indefinite hiatus due to Tyrell's unstable living conditions, exhaustion and mental health struggles. Before saying goodbye Tyrell put up an album online entitled "Delos" which was locked, and blocked listeners from trying to play the album. The album cover suddenly changed/updated slightly, with "March 9 27" written in small text, suggesting this potential 10th halo tides album would drop on March 9th 2027. Tyrell then dropped the album's protest single "Mountains" in late 2026 which was written about Gaza and the experiences/effects of imperialism + war. halo tides' 10th and final independent album "Delos" dropped on March 9th and gained Tyrell a lot more recognition and reception. It's a direct follow up and companion piece to "Mortal Airways" and "KAIROS", leaving remaining fans to view the albums as a chronological trilogy. Tyrell did no promotion or touring for the record and continued living a solitary lifestyle in the southside of Australia, with no interest in returning to the Aussie indie music scene.

Known for atmospheric, dreamy guitar-based sound, halo tides is regarded as one of the most underrated Adelaide bands of the 2020s. They did not attain the commercial or crowd success of other groups from the Aussie scene but later developed a small cult following.
