Grey Album is the fourth and latest studio album from the Quarrymen, John Lennon’s original band that eventually morphed into the Beatles. The 2012 album is the only Quarrymen album to be released to digital platforms, and has not seen a physical release.[1] The album marks the return of John Duff Lowe to a Quarrymen album, his last appearance being on Open For Engagements (1994), and it would be his last album with the band.[2] The album also features the final studio album appearance of Len Garry, who would pass away in 2026.[3]The album also features contributions from May Pang, a partner of John Lennon, and Charles Glenn from Little Richard’s Band.[4]

In 2009, under Star Club TV and Garrlet Danker Medienproduktion, the band would release the documentary film “The Quarrymen- The Band That Started The Beatles,” alongside the single “Never Stop Rockin ‘N’ Rollin,” the band’s first single since the band’s first recording of “That’ll Be The Day” and “In Spite of All The Danger” in 1958.[5]

In 2012, the band would release Grey Album under Garrlet Danker Medienproduktion on iTunes, featuring the 2009 single release from the band, and 4 interviews tracks taken from the 2009 DVD “The Quarrymen- The Band That Started The Beatles.” The album features Len Garry on lead vocals and guitar, Rod Davis on vocals and guitar, Colin Hanton on drums, and John Duff Lowe on piano and keyboards.[4] The album features Lowe’s return to playing on a Quarrymen album, last playing on the 1994 studio album Open For Engagements.[2] The album would mark the final studio appearances of Lowe and Garry, Lowe passing away in 2024,[2] and Garry passing away in 2026.[3] May Pang, a former partner of John Lennon, features on the track “No 6/Chachi-Chachi,” providing some vocals for the track. Charles Glenn from Little Richard’s Band provides bass guitar for the song “Bring Out The Magic.”[4]

The album released on April 3rd, 2012, exclusively on digital platforms.[1]
