GrOb Records (Rus. ГрОб-Рекордс, Before 1984 - «Maidan Records»^[1]) is an independent indie-label founded by Yegor Letov in 1982. It released albums from bands like Grazhdanskaya Oborona, Kommunizm and others that linked to Yegor Letov and the whole Siberian punk^[2]. The recording studio was located in Omsk, in a Khruschevka flat where Yegor Letov lived^[3].

Was operated and modernised for the money Yegor Letov earned from live-concerts^[4]. The latest release among the new albums was the debut album of the St. Petersburg garage band KING KONGS "LIVE!"^[5], since then, only remasters, bootlegs and reissues has been released. Besides the recordings, the studio had "an archive" stores other types of works created by Yegor Letov: collages, poems and pictures^[6]^[7].

History

Maidan Records (1982–1984)

Label was formed at the end of 1982 alongside with the group "Possev" (Letov's first band), during this period, 11 albums and 2 live jam sessions were recorded (some of them are lost)^[8].

GrOb Records (1984)

Label got renamed after Grazhdanskaya Oborona was formed, the name came from abbreviation of the band (Grazhdanskaya Oborona Records).

In 2008, after Yegor Letov's death, the label was passed to his widow, Natalya Chumakova.
