Godfrey Nsereko is a Ugandan rally driver who competes in the two-wheel-drive (2WD) category of the National Rally Championship.

Rallying career

[edit]

Nsereko began his rally career as a co-driver before moving to the driver's seat in 2018. His debut as a driver was at the opening round of the 2018 National Rally Championship season in Mbarara, where he and co-driver Hamza Lwanga emerged as winners of the Clubman Rally Championship (CRC) category. Nsereko attributed his understanding of rallying fundamentals to his previous experience as a co-driver.[1]

Later in the 2018 season, at the Kabalega Rally in Hoima, Nsereko and co-driver John Musisi won the CRC category. He was the only CRC finisher and secured the championship with two CRC events remaining. Kawowo Sports reported that the title was Nsereko's first rally championship. The Daily Monitor also identified Nsereko and Musisi as the CRC category winners.[2][3]

For the 2019 season, Nsereko moved to the 2WD category. He emerged as the winner in the season-opening event in Mbarara after taking the lead following the retirement of Timothy Gawaya. Kawowo Sports reported that Nsereko and co-driver John Bosco Musisi took an early lead in the 2WD championship.[4]

Nsereko continued competing in the 2WD category in subsequent seasons. Uganda Radio Network reported on his participation in the 2021 MOSAC Rally Championship and quoted him discussing the challenges of driving on muddy rally tracks.[5]

In 2022, Nsereko was listed with 51 points in the final published 2WD standings of the National Rally Championship by the Daily Monitor.[6]
