GloDev Inc. (Global Development) is an American 501(c)(3) non-profit humanitarian organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. Founded in 2012, the organization specializes in sustainable agricultural technologies, community development, and disaster relief programs aimed at long-term poverty alleviation both internationally and domestically.[1]
History and Operations
[edit]GloDev Inc. was formally incorporated in 2012 to research and deploy scalable, low-cost agricultural methods for impoverished communities.[1] In 2016, the organization acquired a 120-acre parcel of land located on Garden Street in northern Duval County to establish a centralized testing site and a permanent operations base.[2]
The facility functions as an international training center where humanitarian workers, agricultural students, and missionaries undergo preparation before deploying to project locations overseas.[3]
Eden Gardens Eco-Farm
[edit]The primary domestic initiative operated by GloDev Inc. is Eden Gardens, an integrated eco-farm and community-supported agriculture (CSA) facility located on the organization's 120-acre Jacksonville campus.[4] The project serves two main functions:
- Agricultural Research and Instruction: The farm tests alternative, high-yield cultivation methods requiring minimal synthetic inputs. These include aquaponics systems, hydroponics, and hügelkultur beds, which are evaluated for reproducibility in developing nations with degraded soils or limited water access.[3]
- Local Food Security: Locally, the farm produces chemical-free vegetables and fruits to address urban "food deserts" within the Northeast Florida region. The organization partners with regional distribution networks to supply fresh produce directly to low-income and food-insecure families in Duval County.[5]
