Dr Gavriel (Gav) Schneider
[edit]Gavriel Schneider is an Australian risk-management executive and author whose work has focused on human-centred risk management, organisational resilience and decision-making.[1] He has served as Group CEO of Risk 2 Solution and developed the risk-management concept he calls Presilience.[2] Schneider has received recognition from industry organisations and has appeared in IFSEC Global's security influencer rankings.[3]
Career
[edit]Schneider has worked in risk, security and organisational resilience. He has served as Group CEO of Risk 2 Solution.[2] A 2025 profile in The CEO Magazine discussed Schneider's approach to treating risk as both a potential threat and a strategic opportunity and his development of the Presilience concept.[2]
In 2019, Schneider was ranked nineteenth in IFSEC Global's security thought-leadership influencer list.[4] In 2022, he was ranked fifth in IFSEC Global's security influencer list.[3]
The Risk Management Institute of Australasia lists Schneider as its 2019 Risk Consultant of the Year and its 2022 Risk Leader of the Year.[5] In 2024, he was runner-up in the IT and Telecommunications CEO category of The CEO Magazine Executive of the Year Awards.[6]
Presilience
[edit]Schneider uses the term Presilience for an approach to risk management that emphasises preparation, decision-making and adaptation before disruption occurs.[2]
Schneider expanded on the concept in his 2025 book Presilience: How to Navigate Risk, Embrace Opportunity, and Build Resilience. The book was reviewed by Kirkus Reviews, which discussed its approach to proactive risk management and its use of concepts from psychology, neuroscience, leadership and personal risk management.[7]
Professional Security Magazine also reviewed the book and discussed its treatment of situational awareness, personal safety and crisis management.[8]
