Fundamental Technologies Inc., doing business as Fundamental, is an American artificial intelligence company headquartered in San Francisco, California. It develops NEXUS, a foundation model designed for predictive analysis of tabular, or structured, enterprise data.[1][2][3] The company emerged from stealth in February 2026 with $255 million in announced funding and a reported $1.4 billion post-money valuation.[1] It has announced enterprise distribution and deployment relationships with Amazon Web Services, SAP, Cloudera, and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.[1][4][5][6][7]

History

Fundamental was founded in October 2024 by Jeremy Fraenkel and Gabriel Suissa.[2] Fraenkel serves as the company's chief executive officer.[1] The company operated in stealth before publicly launching NEXUS in February 2026.[1][3] AWS chief executive officer Matt Garman said in a LinkedIn post that AWS was working with Fundamental to make NEXUS available as a first-party AWS offering.[8]

On 5 February 2026, Fundamental announced $255 million in funding, comprising a $30 million seed round and a $225 million Series A. The Series A was led by Oak HC/FT, with participation from Valor Equity Partners, Battery Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Hetz Ventures.[1] The financing also included angel investors Aravind Srinivas, Henrique Dubugras, Olivier Pomel, and Assaf Rappaport of Wiz.[2][1]

In July 2026, MUFG Innovation Partners, the corporate venture-capital arm of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, announced an investment in Fundamental.[7] The companies said that MUFG would deploy NEXUS in markets and trading, digital banking, and other business areas.[9]

Products and technology

Fundamental's principal product is NEXUS, a Large Tabular Model (LTM).[2] It is intended to generate predictions from enterprise data organized in rows and columns, including databases and spreadsheets.[1][3]

According to the company, NEXUS is designed to reduce the feature engineering and model-specific training associated with conventional machine-learning workflows.[2] Reported uses include demand forecasting, price prediction, fraud detection, and customer-churn prediction.[1]

IEEE Spectrum described NEXUS in a July 2026 feature on large tabular models, placing Fundamental among companies and research groups developing foundation models for structured data.[3]

Enterprise deployments and partnerships

At its public launch, Fundamental announced a deployment relationship with Amazon Web Services.[1][4] In June 2026, AWS announced that NEXUS was available through Amazon SageMaker JumpStart.[10]

In May 2026, Fundamental announced that NEXUS would be made available through SAP's open-model ecosystem and integrated with SAP's Business AI platform.[5] In September 2025, Cloudera announced Fundamental as a member of its Enterprise AI Ecosystem.[6]

TechCrunch reported that Fundamental had signed seven-figure contracts with Fortune 100 companies at the time of its public launch.[1]
