Firuze is the fifth album by Turkish singer-songwriter Sezen Aksu, It is the third and final album to be released Under The Kervan Plakçılık Label[1]
The title track "Firuze" was considered to be one of most recognizable works that was co-written by Aysel Gürel. [2][3]
The song "Zelzele"(a song about earthquakes) was supposed to be released by Orhan Gencebay's own version at first (due to the ban on arabesque music[4]) during the opposition for a westernised music regime, Sezen had re-interpreted it for her album to lift up the ban of arabesk music in Turkish radios. [5]
Firuze Incorporates with of a lot of orchestras in genres like folk pop, sophisti-pop,funk and ballads, even turkish critics described it as avant-folk or alternative arabesk album.
The closing track of the album "Bir Zamanlar Deli Gönlüm" was actually featured on a flim "o kadın"[6] then also was reworked in 2002 for Şarkı Söylemek Lazım. [7]
