Fibre Federal Credit Union is an American credit union headquartered in Longview, Washington.[2]

Fibre Federal Credit Union was founded in 1937 by employees of Longview Fibre Company, serving mill workers and their families.[3]

History

[edit]

Fibre Federal Credit Union (charter #2191)[2] was founded in 1937 by sixty-three employees of Longview Fibre Company who pooled $315 with the aspiration of providing more affordable loans to union members.[4] In September 1975, Fibre Federal adopted a community charter, opening membership up to non-mill workers and their families.[3]

In September 2012, Fibre Federal expanded its field of membership into Oregon, adding Columbia and Clatsop counties.[5] This expanded again in April 2015, when Fibre Federal assumed most assets of TLC Federal Credit Union following the latter's closing and liquidation, expanding Fibre Federal's coverage into the Oregon Coast Region and operating as TLC, a Division of Fibre Federal Credit Union.[6]

In June 2026, Fibre Federal Credit Union was recognized by Forbes as the #1 Best-in-State Credit Union in Washington State, with TLC being named #1 in Oregon as well.[7]

Membership and Services

[edit]

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, conducts regular business, or goes to school in one of the 11 counties served by Fibre Federal between Washington and Oregon. In Washington: Cowlitz, Clark, Lewis, Wahkiakum, Pacific, Skamania, or Grays Harbor counties; in Oregon: Columbia, Clatsop, Tillamook, or Lincoln counties.[8] The immediate family and household of an eligible individual also qualify for membership, as do businesses and organizations based in these counties.

Fibre Federal has been recognized for breaking down financial and language barriers and helping members improve their financial health. [9] [10]

Community Commitment

[edit]

Fibre Federal maintains ongoing partnerships with community colleges and hospitals through its Communities First Program[11][12], launched in 2018. Donations support education and health and well-being initiatives and improvements. [13] Other sponsorships, donation drives, and staff volunteer projects have supported local food banks[14][15], an emergency support shelter[16], and animal shelters[17][18]. The credit union also fundraises for Doernbecher Children's Hospital through the Credit Unions for Kids program. [19]
