Central Point Tower, formerly known as the FAMFA Office Tower, is a high-rise office building in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. The building is 107 m (351 ft) tall and has 20 floors plus a basement.[1]
The tower is located at the intersection of Alfred Rewane Road and Olawale Dawodu Road. It has a gross floor area of approximately 55,000 m2 (590,000 sq ft) and occupies a site of approximately 5,695 m2 (61,300 sq ft).[1]
The owner of the building is Folorunsho Alakija.[2]
History
[edit]Construction of the FAMFA Office Tower was underway by 2018, when it was listed among the ongoing projects of Julius Berger Nigeria.[3]
Julius Berger served as the main contractor and carried out the main civil works, finishing works, façade, mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations, and lift installations. Its work on the building was completed in November 2022.[1] The building costed around 60 billion naira,[4] with a net worth of 3 billion dollars as of 2018.[5][6]
The building was subsequently renamed Central Point Tower.[1] It was formally inaugurated in Lagos in October 2023.[7]
Design and construction
[edit]Central Point Tower contains commercial office space, owner-occupied office accommodation and a multipurpose hall.[1] Nine floors combine lettable office accommodation with split-level parking facilities, while six floors contain lettable offices capable of being divided into four self-contained units.[1]
The development provides 266 parking spaces.[1]
Because of the proximity of surrounding buildings, a secant pile wall was used as an excavation retaining structure during construction.[1]
According to Julius Berger, approximately 72,000 m3 (2,500,000 cu ft) of concrete and 9,700 t (21,400,000 lb) of steel were used in the project.[1]
