Methodology

[edit]

The selection process undergoes a structured, three-stage administrative framework to recognize outstanding contributions to global chess.

The initial phase comprises an open online nomination window accessible to the public and the international chess community. After completion of this window, the jury evaluates all the submissions against established criteria to compile preliminary longlists. In the second phase, they conduct a systematic review of the longlisted candidates and, evaluate them across each designated category to establish an official shortlist comprising ten nominees per category, which is subsequently published publicly.

In the final stage, the panel members vote to determine the winners and the announcement is made during the official ceremony in that year's Chess Olympiad.[9][10]
