F&F Co., Ltd. is a publicly traded fashion and retail corporation headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 1972 by Kim Chang-soo, the company specializes in an international brand licensing business model, manufacturing and marketing commercial lifestyle apparel lines for global non-clothing intellectual properties, including Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Discovery Channel (Discovery Expedition).[1]
In 2022, the company diversified its corporate operations by establishing dedicated subsidiaries in entertainment media and television production.[2]
History and licensing operations
[edit]F&F originally operated as a localized fashion apparel manufacturer before shifting its focus toward consumer brand licensing strategies in the 1990s.[3] Rather than acting as a standard import distributor, the company secures regional trademark rights from foreign corporate entities and designs completely new apparel lines tailored specifically for the Asian consumer market.[3]
The company achieved major commercial expansion by distributing MLB-branded streetwear caps and apparel across South Korea and mainland China, expanding online operations via digital storefronts on Alibaba's Tmall platform.[1]
In 2025, the corporate partnership experienced significant internal legal friction when F&F publicly challenged Centroid's unilateral attempts to divest the golf brand, retaining Goldman Sachs to launch a counter-bid to secure absolute management control of TaylorMade.[4][5]
Portfolio and subsidiaries
[edit]The corporate portfolio includes wholly owned luxury apparel acquisitions alongside multi-decade licensing extensions. In July 2024, the company secured an exclusive licensing agreement running through 2039 with Warner Bros. Discovery to distribute its Discovery Expedition outdoor label into the Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian retail landscapes.[6] The corporation also holds complete ownership of the Italian premium outerwear line Duvetica and the California-based urban streetwear footwear brand Supra.[2]
Entertainment division
[edit]In November 2022, F&F expanded into the entertainment industry by launching a music and talent subsidiary, F&F Entertainment, funded with an initial capital injection of 2 billion won.[2] The subsidiary forms media joint ventures with television networks like SBS to co-produce reality audition programs, serving as the core talent management infrastructure for resulting pop music groups such as UNIS.[2]
