Eza: They Are Not Alone is a contemporary science fiction novel by S.C. Chapel. It is set on the planets Eza and Earth.

PLOT

The planet Eza is a place of profound political and military conflict where opposing super-nations of different races and species have been at each other's throats for hundreds of years. The outcast and decimated Go Alliance, an aquatic species with no place left to flee in the ocean from the evil King Rak, must desperately beg for asylum on land from the terrestrial Ar. The Ar of Teka want little to do with them and the trouble they bring.

The Dictatorship of Koh would like nothing better than to see the Alliance disrupt life in Democratic Teka, and will do anything to both keep the king off balance and further their objectives in trying to break through Teka's previously impenetrable defenses.

Dr. Fe is the genius scientist of the Go Alliance, struggling to get his remaining people to safety. He remains resolute in his determination to stay alive throughout the conflict and out of the hands of an ever shifting enemy.

Astronomy Graduate Student Steve Hillison and his colleagues are on to something big: the discovery of another Earthlike planet only ten light years away, the planet Eza.

CHARACTERS (partial list)

Karen Collins – Astronomy Graduate student from Cornel university, now working at the Smithsoian Astrophysics Observatory specializing in celestial mechanics. Romantic rival with Ms. Venakova.

President Karra Dus – Leader of the Democracy of Teka. Pragmatic but by the book, he leads according to the rule of law and the wishes of his constituents. He is fully committed to the plight of the Go Alliance.

Commander Ea – 2nd in command of Go Kingdom Forces. Reports to supreme commander Ol. Interested in self preservation over duty.

Dr. Fe – Leading Go Alliance Scientist, very practical and a selfless philanthropist. Often risks his financial and personal well-being in the pursuit of helping others. His generosity

comes from watching the suffering of the members of the Go Alliance.

Dawn Feolia – Director of  the Exoplanet Institute (EI). A bright woman holding operations together, with a flaky personality and suspicious financial dealings.

Steve Hillison – Astronomy Graduate student from the Arizona State University specializing in planetary science. Often meets with colleagues at the University of Hawaii and books time at the Mauna Kea telescope. Avid surfer.

President (Chief Scientist) Lof Hite – Leader of the Alliance of Free Go. He possesses an ever present optimistic, contagious spirit. He is always hopeful for the future of his people. He holds the dual titles of President of the Go Alliance and Chief Scientist. The term Chief Scientist is from when the Board of Scientists originally defected from the Go Kingdom hundreds of years ago, and they were the first sect to form the Alliance.

General Ku – Commander of Go Alliance Forces. A solemn, realistic soldier with a deep belief in the cause of Go Freedom.

Supreme Commander Ol – Leader of Go Kingdom Forces. Respects his counterpart General Ku, but has no hesitation about wiping out the Go Alliance Forces. He has some compassion for non-combatants, unlike the king.

King Rak– King of the Kingdom of Go. A ruthless tyrant who maintains power through the assertion of his right to rule through his hereditary title and his own proclaimed divinity.

Car Ral (Myriron Karr) – Ar musician, friend of the Go Alliance. His given name was Myriron Karr, After he was accepted into the Go Alliance, the society had given him the Go name Car Ral, the only Ar ever having received that privilege.

Svetlana Demetryevna Venakova – Astronomy graduate student specializing in celestial mechanics, Moscow State University. Love interest for Steve Hillison.
