Everway is an educational technology company that develops software for special education, literacy, and workplace accessibility. It was formed in March 2024 through the merger of Texthelp, an assistive technology company founded in Northern Ireland in 1996, and n2y, a United States-based special education software provider.[1][2][3]
History
[edit]Texthelp was founded in Antrim, Northern Ireland, in 1996 and developed literacy and assistive technology products for the education and workplace sectors.[4] In December 2020 the company received investment from Five Arrows, the alternative assets arm of Rothschild & Co.[4] Under Five Arrows' backing, Texthelp expanded through a series of acquisitions, including the Lingit Group in 2021 and the education technology division of Don Johnston Inc. in 2022.[5]
In March 2024, Texthelp merged with n2y, a special education software provider that had also been backed by Five Arrows, which remained the majority shareholder of the combined business; Providence Equity Partners and Verdane continued as minority investors.[1] The company adopted the Everway name and brand from January 2025, phasing out the legacy Texthelp and n2y identities.[6]
Products
[edit]Everway's products span assistive technology, special education curriculum, and planning tools. Products carried over from Texthelp include Read&Write, Equatio, OrbitNote, and ClaroRead. Products from n2y include Unique Learning System, News2You, SymbolStix, and Boardmaker. The company states that its tools have been used by more than 250 million people worldwide, a figure drawn from its own reporting.[7]
Acquisitions
[edit]In January 2025 Everway acquired Embrace Education, a United States provider of special education administration and compliance software.[8] In February 2026 Everway announced an agreement to acquire TeachTown, a Massachusetts-based provider of applied behavior analysis-aligned special education software for students with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual and developmental disabilities.[9] TeachTown had previously been owned by Bain Capital Double Impact and, from June 2024, by L Squared Capital Partners.[10] Everway completed the TeachTown acquisition on 31 March 2026.[11]
Recognition
[edit]In 2025, three of the company's products (Equatio, Read&Write, and uPar) received a Tech & Learning Award of Excellence in the Best of 2024 secondary education category.[12]
