Emmanuel Magembe (born 25 December 1992) is a Ugandan former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder and winger. He is also known for his fox sprints and speed, free kick specialist and a dribbler. He was regarded as a highly talented attacking midfielder/winger, capable of playing centrally or on either flank. He developed through youth football in Uganda, including the Kampala Kids League, and later played for several Ugandan and European clubs. His senior career included spells with Victors FC, KJT, Vipers SC, KCCA FC, Proline FC, Franö FK and Ishavsbyen FK

Early life and youth career

Emmanuel Magembe was born on 25 December 1992 in Kampala, Uganda. He began playing football at a young age in Mutundwe, in Rubaga South Division. He played football while attending primary school, where his ability in the sport helped him obtain a bursary to continue his education.

Magembe began his early academy football in Nalukolongo. He played for Super Cubs before moving to Young Express, also known as Wembley. He later joined the Kampala Kids League (KKL), where he developed as a youth footballer and gained opportunities to participate in international youth tournaments.Magembe later joined the Kampala Kids League (KKL), where he developed as a youth footballer and gained experience in international youth competitions. By 2007, he was listed among players produced by KKL, which had won tournaments including the Gothia and Tivoli Cups in Europe.[1]

Magembe represented KKL in international youth competitions in Europe. He travelled with the team to tournaments in Denmark, England, Peru, Spain, Sweden and Norway and was among the players who gained international experience through KKL.[2] [3] [4]

In 2005, Magembe joined Old Kampala Senior Secondary School as a student and footballer. He initially developed with the school before progressing to the senior team. During this period, he continued to develop through school and youth football.[5][6][7]

Magembe later transferred from Old Kampala Senior Secondary School to St. Mary's Kitende, where he continued his education while playing football for the school team. In 2010, he was part of the St. Mary's Kitende team that travelled to Nakuru, Kenya, for the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) competition, which Kitende won.

Senior career

In 2011, Magembe joined Victors FC in the Uganda Premier League. He later moved to PDRM in Malaysia, where he played during the 2012–13 period.[8][9]

In 2012, Magembe was summoned to the Uganda Hippos under-21 team. He subsequently spent a period away from active football following a contractual dispute involving a football agent.In 2012, Magembe was summoned to the Uganda Hippos under-21 team.[10][11]

International career

Magembe was involved with the Uganda under-21 national team. In 2012, he was listed among the players in the Uganda Hippos camp preparing for the African Youth Championship qualifying campaign.[12] In 2015, a Norwegian report stated that Magembe had made under-21 international appearances for Uganda and had played against Ghana.[13]

In 2014, Magembe joined Rwenshama/KJT, a club competing in the FUFA Big League. He was part of the team that earned promotion to the Uganda Premier League and contributed goals and assists during the campaign.[14] [15]

Magembe later continued his career in Europe. He played for Franö FK in Sweden before moving to northern Norway, where he joined Ishavsbyen FK. During his time in Norway, he played under the name "Em" and scored goals for the club.[16][17]

In 2016, Magembe joined KCCA FC under coach Mike Mutebi. He was part of the KCCA team that won the 2015–16 Uganda Premier League title. He later moved to Proline FC, but injuries, including knee and ankle problems, limited his ability to play.In 2016, Magembe joined KCCA FC and was part of the club's 2015–16 league-winning side.[18] He later joined Proline FC on a two-year deal.[19] Magembe left Proline in 2017 after limited playing time, with injury contributing to his lack of game time.[20]

Magembe retired from active football in 2017.[21]
