Comment: The Hurriyet article is not an "in-depth independent source" as your edit says, because it's an interview with the CEO, so it can't be independent by definition 🍅 fx (talk) 22:20, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
Comment: We need better sourcing about the company rather than the products. See WP:SIRS and the Acme worked example below. Currently there are 2 short articles on the products, and a primary source. Primary sources do not help notability here. Most companies can't have an article because there is not enough proven notability, using Wikipedia's definitions, policies and guidelines. Elle Footwear (Turkish: Elle Ayakkabı; also known as Elle Shoes) is a Turkish footwear and accessories brand founded in Istanbul in 1977.[1]
History
[edit]Elle Footwear was established in 1977 by Fehim Akar, a member of a family that had emigrated from Yugoslavia to Turkey, and his business partner Hasan Açar. The brand was founded in the Gedikpaşa district of Istanbul and opened its first retail store in Nişantaşı.[1]
The brand was one of the first in the Turkish market to introduce branded footwear, offering products ranging from ballerinas and knee-high boots to lace-up shoes and platform designs. During the 1980s, while high heels were dominant in Turkish fashion, Elle distinguished itself by producing low-heeled shoes and ballerinas, gaining a strong foothold in the market.[1]
The company initially produced shoes in a small workshop in Gedikpaşa before establishing a manufacturing facility in the Merter district of Istanbul. The company later relocated its manufacturing operations to a 6,000 m² facility in Hadımköy, Istanbul.[2]
By 2018, the brand had reached an annual production capacity of one million pairs of shoes and a workforce of approximately 500 employees at its Hadımköy factory. The company reported revenues of 120 million Turkish lira in 2017, with a target of 150 million lira in 2018.[1] In 2018, the brand celebrated its 41st anniversary with a press event held in its original Nişantaşı store.[2]
International expansion
[edit]By 2018, Elle Footwear was exporting to seven countries: Azerbaijan, Albania, Bulgaria, Russia, Kosovo, Turkmenistan and Iran. The company was also exploring entry into the South African market. Online retail (e-commerce) represented approximately 15% of total sales by 2018, with online sales growing by 70% that year.[1]
Products
[edit]Elle Footwear produces women's and men's shoes, handbags and accessories. Its collections include casual, classic, and sports models.
Retail presence
[edit]The brand operates numerous stores across Turkey and maintains sales points in international markets.
