Deeploy is a Dutch software company based in Utrecht, Netherlands. It develops a platform for deploying, monitoring, governing and documenting machine learning models, with an emphasis on making model outputs explainable and on supporting compliance with regulations such as the EU AI Act.[1][2]
History
[edit]Deeploy was founded in 2020 in Utrecht by Maarten Stolk, Tim Kleinloog, Bastiaan van de Rakt, and Nick Jetten, four data scientists, as a spin-off of Enjins, a machine-learning engineering firm.[3][4]
In January 2022, the venture capital fund Curiosity made its first investment in Deeploy, contributing €0.8 million to a €1 million round.[5] In June 2023, the company raised €2.5 million in a seed round led by the SI3 Fund.[6][7]
In December 2023, Deeploy was included in the UK government's Portfolio of AI Assurance Techniques, a collection of case studies maintained by the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation.[8] In February 2025, the company received a €2.5 million grant from the European Innovation Council Accelerator, under the programme's "Human-Centric Generative AI Made in Europe" call, with a further €5 million reserved as equity investment.[2] In 2025, it was included in MT/Sprout's "Challenger50" list of Dutch start-ups and scale-ups.[9] The same year, Deeploy and the data consultancy Digital Power announced a partnership to support organisations in implementing AI governance.[10]
Software
[edit]Deeploy's software is used to deploy machine-learning models, monitor their performance, and generate documentation to support regulatory compliance. It includes tools to explain individual model predictions, which are intended to allow non-technical users to review and give feedback on them.[1][2] The software has been used in regulated sectors including healthcare, banking, insurance, and government.[2]
