Dark Legacy Comics is a humor webcomic created by Arad Kedar, who publishes under the name Keydar.[1] Based on World of Warcraft, it satirizes the game and its player culture. The comic ran from 2006 to July 2026, when its 1,000th strip ended regular publication.[2][3]

Premise

The comic follows a recurring cast of player characters in stories about World of Warcraft and the experience of playing the game. In a 2013 profile, WoW Insider identified the principal characters as Keydar, Donald, Miji, Gigz, Narya, Krom and Nyte, and described the comic as consisting mainly of self-contained strips with occasional longer storylines.[4] Subjects included raiding, character hobbies and storylines such as a strike by non-player characters.[4] Later strips addressed changes in the game and aspects of player culture, including damage meters, Mythic Plus dungeons and user interfaces.[2][3]

Publication history

Dark Legacy Comics began in 2006 and was published almost every Sunday for twenty years.[2][3] In August 2006, a Dark Legacy strip by Keydar won Blizzard Entertainment's monthly comic contest and was featured on the official World of Warcraft community site.[5] WoW Insider included the comic in its weekly coverage of World of Warcraft webcomics and published a dedicated profile of it in 2013.[4][6]

In July 2026, the comic reached its 1,000th strip and ended regular publication. Keydar said that he planned to concentrate on an original serialized comic while leaving open the possibility of returning to Dark Legacy Comics occasionally.[2][3] PC Games described the comic as providing a view of the changing zeitgeist of the MMO over many years.[2]
