Daniel Foreman is a Canadian Métis filmmaker and screenwriter based in Edmonton, Alberta. His work in film and television has been covered by Canadian media, including APTN News and CBC News,[1] in relation to Indigenous storytelling and independent film production.
Early life and education
[edit]Foreman began his career in music before transitioning into filmmaking. He trained with the Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta and later participated in professional development programs supporting Indigenous filmmakers.
In 2019, he was selected for the Sesame Workshop Summit for Native American Writers[2] in New York, a program aimed at increasing Indigenous representation in children’s media.
Career
[edit]Foreman’s work has been profiled in Canadian media in relation to Indigenous storytelling and media production.[3] His early projects included short films and animation, leading to the creation of the series Legendary Myths: Raven Adventures, which presents Indigenous stories through a combination of animation and live action.
His debut feature film, Abducted (2021), has been described as a dark, character-driven story addressing themes[4] related to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls crisis.
In addition to filmmaking, Foreman has been involved in film initiatives in Alberta, including the Edmonton Short Film Festival.
Personal life
