Count My Lies is an upcoming American psychological drama television miniseries created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, based on the 2025 novel by Sophie Stava. It is expected to premiere in the spring of 2027 on Hulu.

Premise

Count My Lies follows compulsive liar Sloane Caraway, who lies her way into a nanny job with wealthy couple Violet and Jay Lockhart. Once inside their home, she becomes entangled in a series of dangerous secrets that threaten everyone involved.

Production

Development

On April 16, 2025, Count My Lies was announced to be in development at Hulu. It is based on the 2025 novel of the same name by Sophie Stava. The series was created and written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger who were set to executive produce alongside Lindsay Lohan and Scott Morgan, with Stava serving as a producer. Production companies involved producing the series are The Walk-Up Company and 20th Television. On August 13, 2025, Hulu gave production a series order for Count My Lies. Aptaker and Berger also served as showrunners. Lohan stated that the series would have a "darker" tone than the book. Stava added that it expands on the novel with new characters and story elements while retaining its core premise.

Casting

Upon the series development announcement, Lohan was also cast to star. When it was ordered to series, Shailene Woodley joined the cast in a starring as well as executive producing role. On December 4, 2025, Kit Harington was cast in a starring role. The series marks Lohan's first starring role in a television series, with the actress drawn to the role of Violet as a departure from her previous comedic work, describing the character as someone "you can't really figure out." Woodley similarly expressed enthusiasm for her role, describing Sloane as "weird," "unabashed in who she is," and unlike any character she had previously portrayed. Harington characterized the series as a "domestic thriller" featuring "all kinds of quite appalling people." In April 2026, Katherine LaNasa, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Sophia Bush were cast in recurring roles. In May, Griffin Dunne was spotted filming scenes with Woodley. In June, François Arnaud joined the cast in a recurring capacity.

Filming

Principal photography for Count My Lies took place in New York from March to July 2026. In April 2026, scenes were filmed on location in Brooklyn Heights and Queens. On April 7, first look images from the set, featuring Lohan, Woodley, and Harington, were released, with Hulu and Disney+ confirming that production had begun. In May, filming also took place in South Beach, Staten Island. In June, production continued on Long Island.

Release

Count My Lies is expected to premiere in the spring of 2027 on Hulu. Lohan, Woodley and Harington presented a teaser for the series at the 2026 Disney Upfront on May 12, which drew comparisons to The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and Single White Female.
