Company

[edit]

Cloud4Wi was founded in February 2014 by Andrea Calcagno and Davide Quadrini in Pisa, Italy. Following a Series A financing round from United Ventures, the company moved its corporate offices to San Francisco in 2014.[2] The company subsequently relocated its principal offices to New York City.

In October 2017, Cloud4Wi closed an $11.5 million Series B financing round co-led by Opus Capital and United Ventures, bringing total disclosed investment to $15.5 million.[3][4]

Acquisitions

[edit]

Hadabean (2015)

[edit]

On September 8, 2015, Cloud4Wi acquired Hadabean, an Italian company that had developed isProximity, a cloud-based proximity marketing solution leveraging iBeacon and mobile app technologies for targeted customer engagement campaigns. The acquisition was described by CEO Andrea Calcagno as part of an acqui-hiring strategy to integrate complementary technologies and expert talent into the Cloud4Wi platform.[5] Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

WiTech (2018)

[edit]

On August 13, 2018, Cloud4Wi acquired WiTech, a WiFi solutions and managed services provider operating in the European market. The acquisition was aimed at enhancing Cloud4Wi's advanced services for large enterprise customers and accelerating revenue growth in Europe.[6] Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

GeoUniq (2021)

[edit]

On December 16, 2021, Cloud4Wi acquired GeoUniq, a location technology and data company headquartered in Paris, France, previously part of the Jakala group. GeoUniq had developed a privacy-first location SDK that provides outdoor and indoor location intelligence to mobile applications. The acquisition was intended to extend Cloud4Wi's capabilities beyond physical locations, enabling clients to track and engage customer behavior across both offline and online channels.[7] Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Products

[edit]

Cloud4Wi offers three principal solutions.

Guest WiFi Solution

[edit]

The Guest WiFi Solution manages public-facing WiFi access in commercial venues. It combines captive portal onboarding with Passpoint and OpenRoaming protocols for subsequent automatic device authentication, and includes tools for visitor data collection subject to configurable privacy compliance policies, including the GDPR.

Multi-Tenant WiFi Solution

[edit]

The Multi-Tenant WiFi Solution is designed for multi-dwelling unit environments such as student housing, senior living facilities, and multifamily residential properties. It provisions each resident with an isolated Personal Area Network (PAN) using MAC-address-less Pre-Shared Key (PPSK) and Passpoint authentication, with automated provisioning and deprovisioning tied to resident identity systems.

Cloud WiFi NAC Solution

[edit]

The Cloud WiFi NAC Solution provides identity-based network access control for corporate environments. It supports 802.1X authentication via a built-in cloud RADIUS component, integrates with corporate identity providers such as Microsoft Entra ID, and manages differentiated access policies for employees, contractors, and visitors through a single management interface. No on-premises RADIUS server or mobile device management (MDM) enrollment is required.
