Civil Georgia is a Georgian trilingual news website. Reporting on Georgia's politics in English, Georgian and Russian.[3][4]
It was founded in 2001 by United Nations Association of Georgia (UNAG).[5] It is a non-government organisation based in Tbilisi.[6]
In 2008, during the Russo-Georgian war, Civil Georgia was attacked by Russian hackers and had to temporarily relocate to Blogger.[7]
Funding
[edit]Civil.ge is currently financed by the UNAG, which, being Civil Georgia's parent, is the main funder of the news platform. Since October 2018, it has also been funded by the The National Endowment for Democracy.
Former donors include The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung foundation, Civil Society Engagement Program, Transition Promotion Program and the Confidence Building and Early Response Mechanism project.[8]
