Citymind (legally Citymind solutions s.r.o.) is a Czech technology startup based in Brno, Czech Republic.[1] [2] It was founded as a spin-off from Mendel University in Brno and Masaryk University, and Mendel University in Brno continues to support the startup to this day.[3] Citymind specialises in artificial intelligence agents and chatbots for municipalities, universities and private companies. [4] The company is known for being the first to use AI to create a chatbot for a city in the Czech Republic. [5][6]
History
[edit]Citymind was founded in Brno and started as an local academic startup ecosystem at Mendel University in Brno and Masaryk University with support from the South Moravian Innovation Centre.[7][8] The project got attention early on by winning the MENDELU Boost competition. They won with their AI assistant for municipalities and universities.[9]
Projects
[edit]In May 2024, Citymind launched a pilot project in the municipality of Mokrá-Horákov.[10][11][12] According to Český rozhlas (Czech Radio), this was the first instance of a generative AI chatbot being used by a local government in the Czech Republic to communicate with citizens. The system was designed to answer questions regarding waste management, local fees, and administrative procedures.[13]
The next and largest project is the deployment of the technology in the Prague 6 municipality in 2025. This implementation was part of the European Union-funded CommuniCity project, which aims to test digital solutions to social challenges in urban environments.[14]
Citymind was also mentioned in the Social Impact Award Czechia competition, in 2023.[15] The company was also featured in Czech and Slovak media, such as Hospodářské noviny[11], Czech Television[16] and Czech Radio[10]
